What's CHOICE all about?
CHOICE was founded in 1971 to empower people to make responsible and appropriate decisions about their sexual health and help them find the health care services they need and deserve. Today, we provide comprehensive sexual health care education, counseling, resources, and advocacy to over 58,000 teens and adults in the metropolitan Philadelphia area and throughout the State of Pennsylvania. We reach thousands more around the world who look us up on-line.

How do we accomplish our goals?
We do it three ways!

First, we operate four hotlines. You'll find descriptions of each below, but we think the one that might interest you the most is the one we operate for you and your friends, the CHOICE Teen Hotline. You can call and ask us anything - really! Your call is free and absolutely confidential. No one will judge you or think your question is silly. And you'll get the answers you need to keep yourself safe and healthy. And by the way, we have Spanish-speaking counselors on all hotlines, and we operate a TTY line for the hearing impaired. You can also ask us questions by going to the Just Ask link on this web site. Again, ask us anything. We have answers!

Second, CHOICE provides sexual health education through formal presentations, community events, and street outreach. CHOICE is on the list of instructional resources recommended and approved by the Philadelphia School District to provide sexual health education in the City's public schools. CHOICE educators are currently active in 180 schools, after-school programs, community sites, hospitals, and churches. If you would like CHOICE to do a presentation for your group, and you are in the Philadelphia area, please call 215-985-3355.

Third, we provide education and answer your questions through our three web sites. In addition to the teen-specific web site you are now visiting, there is our general site, www.choice-phila.org, that has information about CHOICE and its services including fact sheets on a variety of sexual health topics, a searchable HIV Resource Guide for the Philadelphia metropolitan area and the State of Pennsylvania, a downloadable directory of HIV experienced physicians in the Philadelphia area, frequently asked questions, a listing of online sexual health resources, and employment and volunteer information for CHOICE. Our third web site www.wheretofind.org, takes you directly to a page where you can download our popular Where To Find resource guide, which has Philadelphia-specific sexual health resources for teens. Remember, if you don't find the information you need on our web sites, you can always call the CHOICE hotline at 1-800-84-TEENS. Our hotline counselors will be glad to help you!
