We are so glad you wrote to us to ask this question. Parental consent is not required for minors to get birth control in Arkansas. If you want to get birth control pills, you will need to see a doctor/health care provider and get a prescription. You can talk to your regular doctor (and ask him/her if they can keep the information confidential and not tell your parents). If you don’t feel comfortable going to your regular doctor, then you can call 1-800-230-PLAN or go to http://www.teenwire.com/clinics/ to find the Planned Parenthood Center closest to you. All Planned Parenthoods provide confidential services to teens. If you take birth control pills, it is still a good idea for you and your partner use a male or a female condom every time you have sex. Birth Control pills protect against pregnancy, but only condoms will help reduce your chances of getting an STI.
