Hey, thanks for writing in. Some people are gay because they are the most romantically or sexually attracted to someone of the same gender as they are. If someone is attracted to someone of the same gender, it might mean that he or she is gay or lesbian or bisexual (someone who is attracted to people of any gender), but it might not. It’s really just all about how a person feels inside, and who they are the most attracted to. Some people might know right away if they are gay, for others they might learn through experimentation or just over time. Attraction and sexual feelings can be complex and might take a while to figure out, and that's okay. Some people might be really proud and excited about their sexual identity, and others might want to keep it a secret. Either way, whether someone is gay or lesbian or bisexual or straight, whoever they are attracted to is up to them and is okay. |
