That is a very good question/concern. Yes! Doctors and health clinics can give teen free condoms and it stays between you and the doctor. All patients, no matter their age, have the right to privacy and confidentiality when it comes to doctors and your health and if a doctor did tell someone else personal information, it might be a violation of your rights. That means that your parent/guardian does not have to know about it. It is important though to check with your doctor and ask if what you tell them will be confidential (stay between you and them) so that you know for sure that you can share information with them and it will be private. There are also many teen clinics, where you can get condoms for free. If you are interested in finding a place close to where you live, you can call the CHOICE Hotline and speak with a Hotline Counselor. Call us at (215) 985-3300 or if you are outside of Philadelphia call 1-800-84-TEENS Monday-Thursday 8:30am-7:30pm, Friday 8:30am-5pm, Saturday 9am-1pm. |
