Well, all sexual activity, whether it is oral sex, vaginal sex, or anal sex, is natural and can be healthy. But remember that having any sex also can put someone at risk of getting STIs or HIV. This is why it is very important to use condoms when having sex. It someone is interested in having anal sex, it is important to speak to their partner about it so that everyone feels safe and comfortable before doing anything. The anus does not have natural lubrication, so it is very important to use a water-based lubricant and condom when having anal sex. Someone may feel uncomfortable or may experience pain during anal sex (or any kind of sex). If this happens, it is important to talk to your partner and stop if you want to. But, no, having anal sex does not make anyone walk funny and it definitely does not make anyone’s butt get bigger. Oh, and don’t worry, no one will ever know if you have sex (anal, vaginal, or oral) unless you tell them. Those are all myths and just not true. If you still have questions about anal sex and how to be safe and healthy about sex, please call the CHOICE Hotline and speak with a Hotline Counselor.
