Current Volunteer Opportunities

Are you excited about reproductive rights and sexual health? Want to get involved?
CHOICE needs YOU!

CHOICE Community Ambassador

Community Ambassadors serve an essential role in CHOICE’s work. Ambassadors perform outreach, spreading the word about CHOICE and representing our organization throughout the community. Ambassadors will attend health fairs at various community centers and set up informational tables where they will give out sexual health fact sheets, wallet cards and other materials while interacting with attendees and answering the questions they have. Ambassadors will also go out into the streets at strategic locations around Philadelphia and hand out safer-sex kits to individuals (our ambassadors also are responsible for assembling their safer-sex kits!)  Based on individual interest and available opportunities, ambassadors may additionally be called on to conduct community education workshops on different sexual health topics (i.e. birth control or HIV/STIs.)

This position is a wonderful opportunity to build your leadership skills while interacting with community members and promoting sexual health while also getting a chance to learn about sexual and reproductive health services in the Philadelphia area.

Requirements:
Community Ambassadors should be able to demonstrate experience in or a strong interest in the field of sexual and reproductive health. Ambassadors must be comfortable traveling throughout Philadelphia neighborhoods via public transportation and must be willing to present public workshops. Applicants must be at least 18 years old.

Those interested in becoming Community Ambassadors should submit our online Volunteer Application. Successful applicants will also be asked to come in for a brief interview and complete an intensive two-part training prior to beginning outreach work. Training will include detailed topical information on a variety of sexual health issues (i.e. Abortion and HIV) as well as teach-back opportunities for all participants.

CHOICE requests a minimum volunteer commitment of 3 months (at least 4 hours per week or 16 hours per month.)

We are currently accepting applications for Community Ambassadors to begin training in Spring 2015!
